Love love love! So the Beatles sang. How do we grow our love? How do we bring love to every situation and encounter we have? It’s tricky right? Because there are things in life we prefer over others. There are people we prefer over others. Some people you find very easy to be around and others…not so much. How do we love everyone? How do we stay grounded in appreciation for every moment?

I have never been one for gratitude lists. They just never did it for me. I could always think of things to be grateful for but immediately think of just as many things to see the glass half empty again. Same with positive affirmations. It felt like putting lipstick on a pig. If I am judging something about myself, then trying to combat that belief with an opposite statement did nothing to eradicate the underlying problem.
Confession time, until this last year I was never a big meditator either. Now I crave being in the glorious waves of consciousness that meditation allows me, but historically not so much. One of the practices that brought me to this place of loving the experience of being me so completely is what I call Growing your Love with Gratitude.
Its very simple and is really a walking wakeful meditation. You go about your every day in gratitude for and sending your love to everything, no matter what it is good or bad that is happening. If someone irritates you do your best not to make the situation worse and inside yourself be thankful and willing to see what is in you that needs to heal and send it love. Be grateful for that person reflecting you to yourself and send them love. Thank the emotions for telling you about this and send love to yourself.
I have practiced this with people, situations and myself with great results for personal growth and increasing happiness. This has brought about total transformation in relationships where tension and misunderstanding existed. The knots in our communication just naturally dissolve and I find forgiveness for that person and myself for holding them in a negative light. Regardless of how I feel, happy, sad or neutral, practicing being thankful and loving the entire world that I find myself in is an extremely powerful experience. Very quickly life circumstances become less important than loving is and you then have the opportunity to enjoy every moment.
The world is my creation and being willing to see it all exactly as I have manifested it is the first key to transforming it. By breathing in thankfulness for the oxygen sustaining me and exhaling all my love into the creation, I am taking responsibility for everything. If everything I see is my creation then I have something to learn from the reflection of the smallest moment. There is opportunity to love everywhere I go. Love is all there is. Enjoy!
